Easter: Part 4 The "Official" One

Well, we certainly have stretched out our Easter celebration(s) this year. And today was another wonderful day of remembering our risen Savior.

We started the day with seeing what treats the Easter bunny had left in the girls' baskets.

There was quite a bit of money for their piggie banks in some of the eggs.

Then it was time to get ready for worship. Our girls look so beautiful in their new dresses!

We chose to spend this Sunday morning with my parents congregation, followed by my parents and brother joining us for lunch at our house.

Of course, there has to be an egg hunt, and Grandy was kind enough to take egg hiding duty. Ella and Emma insisted on hiding the eggs for Mommy and Grandy too. When it was our turn to find the eggs,they quickly took Grandy by the hand and started showing him where all the eggs were. They didn't seem to care if I found any eggs or not. I found that rather humorous.

After all the egg hunting was complete, a uncle Newton got some of the biggest smiles send giggles of the day by swinging the girls 6 feet up in the air.

We went to our regular congregation for evening worship services. Memaw and Datt had brought the girls new Easter baskets with bunnies and candy.

What a great day, made all the better by the celebration of Jesus and his ultimate sacrifice on the cross followed by the conquering of death allowing us the chance to live with him in glory someday!

 

Easter: Part 3 Daddy's Family

We were invited to join Memaw's family at Aunt Sandy's house. We enjoyed a tasty cookout, games, egg hunt, and the special egg scavenger hunt.

While waiting for the food to cook, our girls played on the swings, slide and trampoline.

Then, Sandy had several games planned for the kids. Sandy was so sweet. She even had modified games ready so our girls could participate. They played in a version of the egg race (carrying them in their hands instead of on the spoon.)

And they did better at the bunny hop than the bigger kids.

They were extra excited to get prizes for participating.

Hunting for Easter eggs (many of them filled with candy) is always a fun activity.

Finally, there was the scavenger hunt for the special egg. Bryan and I got a bit of a head start because we were carrying the girls in a effort to outrun the bigger kids. Amazingly, we won. The girls found the extra big egg with candy and a movie inside.

Easter: Part 2 at Preschool

Our second Easter celebration was a very fun egg hunt at preschool. The first time around I hid all the eggs for the girls to find.

On subsequent turns, the girls hid the eggs for each other. That was a funny thing to watch from an adult perspective. Some just hid the eggs where they had found them on the last round. Some forgot they were hiding and started finding them instead. One of the "hiders" who had been finding instead just dumped her basket on the ground. Interestingly, at least to me, when the pile of eggs were found, only one child stayed there and picked them all up, while everyone else ran by, grabbed a couple of eggs, and ran on to keep searching.

After each search, we would sit In a circle and count all the eggs to see if they had all been found. Amazingly enough, all the eggs were found every time.

Easter: Part 1 Egg Hunt w/ Our Church Family

We began our Easter festivities one week early this year with an egg hunt after Sunday morning worship.  It was a very warm hot afternoon and most of the chocolate candy was too melted to pick up off the ground.  However, thanks to the generosity of our church family there were plenty of other candies to collect.  All the kids seemed to have a great time gathering the eggs and candy.

When we were at the library earlier this week, one of the books I checked out didn't tell much of a story, but focused on the word family -at instead.  Bryan picked it up and started reading with the girls.  This was the first time I had heard them read so many words from a book.  I grabbed my phone and started recording.  This video is only a small portion of what was recorded.  (I figured 5.5 minutes of watching 3 year olds sound out words would be a bit much for most of the people looking at this.)  I must say, watching them read with their daddy brought tears to my eyes.  My babies are learning more and more every day.

Shoe Shopping with Grandy, a.k.a. "Grandy Day"

My dad, Grandy, has taken it upon himself to keep the girls in shoes that fit.  About twice a year he takes us shopping for some new shoes for the girls.  This is such a blessing for us!  And we all have a great time while we're at it.

Thanks Grandy!  We LOVE you! (and not just because you buy us shoes, but because you're our Grandy.)

The girls asked if we could eat lunch on the front porch, this beautiful spring day.  So, we packed up our lunch and ate the spaghetti outside.
