Alaskan Cruise Day 5: Tracy Arm Fjord and Juneau

Today was Bryan's and my favorite day of the trip.  We started the day with our ship making it's way to Tracy Arm Fjord.  This is a glacier that we sailed as close as the ship was able to get to it.  (In fact, the expert telling us about the glacier over the intercom said we were able to get closer than he ever had in all his trips to this glacier.)  It was very pretty, and the scenery along the way was beautiful as well.  God has certainly made our world beautiful! We sailed to the glacier, then our ship turned around and sailed back out and on to Juneau.

While we were going to the glacier, we spent little more time exploring the ship.  We found a night club on the very back, top of the ship which was fun to see in the day time.  The girls had a blast playing on the moving sidewalks that led to it.

We also watched an ice carving demonstration.  Very interesting and beautiful.

We soon docked in Juneau, Alaska.  Corey, Jourdan, Bryan, and I headed out to our first Zip-Line experience, while Micah and Ashley went whale watching.  Memaw and Datt were gracious to stay onboard and watch all 5 grandkids.

Bryan and I LOVED zip-lining! It was so much fun!  We took a boat over to the site, got geared up, and took a truck plus a short hike to the beginning of the course.  This course is built on an abandoned gold mine.  It was abandoned because the mine flooded with sea water when they mined too close to the sea.  There was no way to remove the water, so they abandoned the mine even though it still contains gold.  The course contains 10 zip lines and one suspension bridge.  We had a blast!  I would love to do that again someday.

After our adrenaline filled afternoon, we went back to town for a little shopping.  Today is Memaw's birthday, so we bought some new house shoes for her.

We were glad to see our girls had a good time on the ship while we were in town as well.  What a great day!
