Playing in the Snow with Friends

Lisa and Bethany
We had a very nice visit with some friends of ours from Alaska Montana.  Actually Lisa and her family moved from Alaska to Montana a couple of months ago, so I have a little trouble keeping it straight.  Anyway, we woke up to a beautiful snow fall on Tuesday morning, but it was also very frigid.  So, as much as the girls begged, we decided it was best to wait for it to warm up a bit before heading out to play.  Then, this afternoon, Lisa called and asked if it would be a good time for Sam, Bethany and her to visit.  We thought it would be fun to let the kids play together in the snow.

We bundled them up:

And went out to the front yard the play.  Unfortunately, the snow was melting fast, so there wasn't as much for them to play in as we had originally hoped.  The kids found enough to have fun in and they quickly discovered there was more in the shaded areas.  They made snow angels, and Sam kept trying to start a snow ball fight.  At first the flying snow balls bothered Ella and Emma, but after a while they learned what fun that could be and started throwing snow back.

We even tried to make a snowman.  It used up most of the snow that was left in the yard and had lots of leaves and sticks stuck to it.  Sam (who is only used to pristine Alaskan snow) thought our snow man looked "dirty."  We just laughed and called it our Texas Snowman.  A bit of snow the girls added to the top, even looked a bit like a cowboy hat.

Overall, it was a fun afternoon! Glad we had a little chance to visit and let the kids play together.

Love this post, Carla! Hopefully we'll be able to get together in Amarillo again on our upcoming visit! :-)
