Alaskan Cruise Day 4: Ketchikan, Alaska

It was a cold and wet touristy kind of day.  We pulled into port at Ketchikan, Alaska this morning.  What a beautiful town!

We took a walking tour of Totem Bight, followed by a logger show.  Totem Bight is a State Historical Park dedicated to preservation of the art of totem poles.  They have some very old totem poles as well has some which are still being carved.  It was all very interesting and fun, only slighly hampered by the rain and cold temperatures (we are in Alaska, you know).

Alaskan Cruise Day 3: At Sea

Today, we became explorers and tried to see as much as the ship as possible.  There is so much to see and do on the Star Princess.
E&E had fun moving the chess pieces around.  B & I got a
good laugh when we walked back by later and a couple was
looking at the board and commenting that someone had left
mid-game.

After a while, our little explorers decided they wanted to go play in the kids area for a while.  They really loved the kids area.  With new activities planned every 15-30 minutes, they had so much fun.  Today they were blowing extra large bubbles.

Tonight was our first formal night.  We don't get this dressed up very often, which made it extra special.

After a marvelous dinner (the food on this ship is excellent!), we went to a magic show.  The magician was very funny and all 4 of us had a good time.

Alaskan Cruise Day 2: Boarding the Boat

What an exciting day! Today we boarded the boat.  But before we could do that we had a little time at the hotel.  We took a walk around with the girls to burn off some of their excited energy and found some beautiful flowers.
Then, we had a brief worship service in Memaw and Datt's hotel room before our drivers arrived to take us to the port.
Our ship is beautiful and big!  It took a little time to get through all the steps necessary before boarding, but that all went very smoothly.

Excited to finally be on the ship!
We found our room easily enough.  Our girls are very excited about sleeping on the top bunks.
I forgot to take a picture of our room, so here is Annie and Caroline
in theirs.  Ours looked exactly the same.

We then set off to find the kids' play area and get the girls registered.  They had some fun playing around in there before it was time for the emergency drill.

It was finally time to set sail.  We enjoyed watching the sail away party, and watching Seattle shrink from view as we headed out to Alaska.

The girls really wanted to go swimming, but the indoor pool was completely filled at over 4 feet deep.  But Daddy agreed to go with them.  A great ending to another great day!
